About Us
We’re Aubrey and Andreas Suter. We’re in our mid to late 20s, and live in the Colorado mountains at about 8,200 feet. We have just over an acre of land, and friendly, forgiving neighbors.
We both work full-time, and work gets busy and stressful for each of us at times. We find our animals, gardens, foraging, cooking, and fermentation to be constant sources of enjoyment, and often relaxation.
We work together on most of our projects, and we compliment each other well:
- Aubrey is restless and obsessive in her research, gathering ideas and information like that video game where you accumulate a big ball of stuff and eventually pick up whole cities (Katamari Damacy). When she finally snaps and takes on more livestock or a new project, chances are she’s already read everything she could find on the topic.
- Andreas is arguably more stable, and enjoys tinkering and learning as he goes. He is often a driving force in getting structures built, and comes up with clever ideas to solve problems or inconveniences we encounter on the homestead. He usually argues on behalf of moderation and balance. He routinely posts about homesteading in his Google+ collection.
We want to share what we’ve learned, and help others get started or fulfill their own impulses to gather information. We love finding and building community around good, deliberate food and living, and we hope you’ll share your perspective with us.
